MSP Testing/Morning Aleks Group

During the MSP testing weeks, there will be no morning ALEKS math class. The testing weeks run May 10th through May 21st. If your child needs to ride the early bus to school, he or she is still able to to do that!

Our testing dates for fourth grade are Wednesday and Thursday (May 12th and 13th) and Monday and Tuesday (May 17th and 18th). Please try to make sure your child is well-rested and is at school those days, if at all possible. If your child is sick and can not be at school, a make up can be rescheduled. The kids seem to test best when they can stay in the their regular environment and testing schedule. We have worked hard and focused on being prepared for the test but I also want to stress a "No Worries...Do Your Best" attitude with the kids.

Special Classes....

I thought it might be fun for you to see what your kiddos are doing in when they aren't in our classroom. I visited them while they were in PE and Art and took some "action" shots for you. It was a lot of fun for me to see them in their other classes, too!

Mr. Houn had some fitness stations set up for the day. The kids worked out at each station and when the music changed, they switched stations. They definitely worked all their muscles and had fun while they did it! Just look at those smiles!

What do you think of these future fitness experts?? I was very impressed!

Next up...Art with Mrs. Vega. The kids have been working on a very hard project. I don't want to give away any details in case it's a surprise but I will tell you they have been working super hard! Mrs. Vega gave everyone a Hawks Pride slip today!

I've said it all year, but it is still so true....this is an awesome group of kids and I am so happy to get to spend this year with them!

Camp Reed Reminder: Camp is May 20th and 21st. Please try to get everything paid and turned in by May 3rd. We are still looking for at least 2 more male chaperones. If there is anyway you can volunteer to go, please let me know and I will send the paperwork home! Thanks so much!

Updates...

Goodness...has it really been almost a month since I have updated the blog? I'm so sorry! First of all, thanks so much for attending parent/teacher conferences. It was great to spend time talking with all of you about the progress of each of your students!

Next, I want to welcome our 2 newest students. Paige has actually been with us most of the year...joining us for our special classes. We are now lucky to have her with us all day every day! We also had Kaylie join us just a few days before Paige. How lucky are we! Two more great kids for our classroom! I didn't think things could get any better and then they did! Welcome, girls!

We are finally getting back to some routines since conferences are over. As usual, the kids ask me EVERY day for some silent reading time. I have truly never had a class that wants to read sooo much! Mrs. Jones, our librarian, has even been very impressed! I love it!

We have also been working on triple digit by double digit multiplication and the long division algorithm. (Impressive, isn't it!) The kids have been working super hard on it and are now the "experts". They actually take turns doing the teaching now. They would love it if you would make up some problems to practice at home.
Probably the biggest news of the week is the hatching of the walking stick eggs! I had no idea how many we were going to have. I took these pictures one day and the next day, there were about 3 times as many on the screen. Yikes!

Also, remember Camp Reed is May 20 - 21. Mark your calendars. We are still looking for chaperones, especially males. Let me know if you are interested!
